About Therapy

Welcome to my website.  I’m glad you have found me.

Considering therapy can be a challenging decision, so my website is designed to provide you with a sense of who I am and how I work.  I love working with clients and I want you to feel as comfortable as possible.  My practice is friendly, supportive, and non-judgmental.  I offer care-filled listening as you express your concerns and explore your thoughts and feelings about yourself, your relationships, and the situations you find yourself in.  Together, we will consider how you might experiment with new ways of being and doing.  Please look around.   Feel free to email me or call with any questions your might have.

I look forward to hearing from and working with you!

              A few thoughts about therapy

Therapy is an active relationship between you and the therapist where the therapist seeks to create a safe environment that allows you to more fully express your thoughts feelings, and experience to be seen and heard and this creates opportunities for deep transformation.

Therapy offers
support when you feel stuck or overwhelmed by experiences, events, or
relationships.  In therapy, we work with
what you have been considering/pondering and anything else that arrives.

Therapy addresses and
pains and pleasures of living that may be rooted inside you, exist in
relationships, exist in the environment, or any combination.

Therapy offers support when you feel stuck or overwhelmed by experiences, events, or relationships.

Therapy can help you
understand whether you can change your situation or to change your relationship
to your situation.

Much of the work of
therapy is done between sessions as you reflect on what you have explored in
session and try applying it in your life.

In therapy, we work with what you have been considering/pondering and anything else that arrives.

C Sloan Psychotherapy

CS-12

Hello and thank you for visiting C Sloan Psychotherapy.  I believe that psychotherapy can help alleviate suffering and that deeper work can offer opportunities for growth and transformation.  I know this through my own experiences with therapy that resulted in my decision to become a psychotherapist as a second career.

Life's journey include challenges that can bring both pain and joy.  Starting therapy can be challenging.  Sharing personal information with someone you do not know can feel embarrassing, or worse.  I offer you a welcoming and open space where I am present to listen to your thoughts and feelings, acknowledge your suffering and pain, and celebrate your accomplishments with you.  Together we build a trusting relationship that allows you to share more, and more comfortably, over time.

I enjoy working with adults to ease symptoms to develop strengths and resources, and support making and maintaining life changes.  I draw from a variety of therapies including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), psychodynamic therapy, DBT skills (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy), Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Neuropsychotherapy, and Expressive Arts Therapy. To learn more about the concerns I work with, please see my Areas of Special Interest page. For more about how I work with clients, go to my Individual Therapy page.

I will work collaboratively with you whether you find yourself stuck in external circumstances or struggling with internal imbalances.  Being heard, understood and supported offers each of us the means for growth and change.
